Biography
Jean Lemay (Ph.D. Eng.) began his career at Université Laval in 1990. He was Director of the Department of Mechanical Engineering for over 10 years.
After completing research internships in the field of turbulence at the Centre d'études aérodynamiques et thermiques in Poitiers, France, and at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, Jean Lemay obtained his PhD in mechanical engineering from Université Laval in 1989. He had previously earned his master's (1986) and bachelor's (1983) degrees in mechanical engineering there.
His areas of expertise include fluid dynamics, turbulence, renewable energies, aerodynamics, thermal engineering, and instrumentation. A recognized researcher, he is the author or co-author of over 200 scientific and technical publications, including 10 patent applications.
During his 30 years of teaching at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Université Laval, he has contributed significantly to the creation of a center of excellence in experimental methodology, including measurement techniques, mechatronics, and data acquisition and processing. In 2017, he published the book "Measurement, Mechatronics and Data Processing" with Éditions JFD.
